AACC employment services helped students edit their resumes and find employment at the Job Search Cafe today in the Student Services Center.

“What I do is try to make our students adjust to the new world of work,” adviser Veronica Boreland said. “How do students, or we as job seekers, present ourselves in the world of work because that presentation changes all the time.”

The counselors stay up to date on skills employers are looking for to help students create the best resume possible.

“I chose [to attend] the job fair … to help better myself for when I get out into the real world in the future,” Nathan Lucas, a first-year culinary arts student, said.

According to Uche Anyanwu, the employment services office assistant, some employers from the Washington Metro area post positions on the AACC website because they take particular interest in the college’s students.

“I’m trying to find a job where I can use consulting and marketing skills that I learned in class,” Na’Quon Willett, a first-year entrepreneurship student, said.

Most students came to the cafe to edit their resumes while getting to work directly with the counselors.

Twenty-five employers will attend two upcoming job fairs on April 25 and May 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the CALT Building.

For students who can’t make the upcoming job fairs, they are welcome to go to SSVC 222 for resume help.
