The coordinator of AACC’s Continuing Legal Education program in November accepted a promotion to director of the college’s Legal Studies Institute.

Attorney Erin Gable became the Institute’s interim director this fall after seven years as a coordinator and professor at the college.

She also taught continuing legal education courses for state magistrates and judges and worked as a staff attorney for the state Department of Family Administration for two years.

Gable said she plans to infuse more technology into the Institute’s programs.

“Technology moves really fast, while law moves really slow,” she said.

Gable said she hopes to familiarize legal studies students with new and developing legal technologies to give them an advantage when they move from school into the legal work force.

She also plans to start a student club that focuses on legal movies like “A Few Good Men” and “Philadelphia,” one of her favorite films.

Gable earned her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law and she later practiced as a private attorney representing clients in cases involving divorce, domestic violence, and child support and custody.
