Free balloon animals for students

Students walked out of the SUN Dinging Hall on Jan. 25 with colorful balloon hats and animals.
Melissa Witte, a first-year early childhood education major, asked for a balloon chicken.
“It was one of the funnier balloon choices,” Witte said. “It made my day 10 times better.”
The Campus Activities Board, a student club which organizes many activities on campus, arranged the event with balloon animal artist Louis Paul.
“Who doesn’t like balloons?” Cynthia Murphy, CAB president, said. “We like picking things that are fun and out of the ordinary; it makes things special.”
Paul said he wants to show people that there’s more to balloon art than the basic sword, so he embraces the challenge of taking requests from guests.
Dallas Coleman, a third-year music student, waited in line to get a pink crocodile balloon for his girlfriend.
“Generally, you see balloon animals at something like a state fair … it’s really cool to remind people that you can get them in other places,” Coleman said.
