Some students had the opportunity to watch “The Princess Bride” for the first time 30 years after its original release date.

“We typically go for a family movie,” said Christine Storck, director of student engagement. “I got an email — someone told me it was the thirtieth anniversary of “The Princess Bride, and I thought it was perfect. There’s a whole generation of younger people, younger students, that have never seen it, that have no idea what it is, and we get the chance to show them.”

The screening was held in the west campus amphitheater on a large inflatable screen provided by FunFlicks, and refreshments were provided by the Culinary Club.

Joe Ero, a fifth-semester Baking & Pastry Arts major helped out with the snack table. “We do a lot of extracurricular events,” said Joe. “And I’ve never seen the movie, so I get to do that, too.”

Luckily, the weather was nice — clear skies and a nice breeze made for a pleasant evening, even if there were more than a few mosquitoes flying around.

“It is a little annoyingly hot,” said Kara Diaz-Copeland, a second-year creative writing major. “But I could watch “Princess Bride” over and over and over again and not get bored of it. I love it so much.”
