AACC’s fall faculty recital flourishes

AACC’s performing arts faculty held their annual fall music recital in the middle of October this year.
Jacob Polasky, an adjunct faculty member and guitarist, opened the show.
Polasky’s set, Giants, consisted of original songs titled Polyphemus Frost Giant, Ozarklops, Og, and The Cheese-Orge of Columbia Country.
The guitarist received his D.M.A from the University of Maryland in 2012, and since then he has written a theory text book for musicians and in 2015 he started AACC’s New Music Club.
A clarinet, cello, and piano trio followed Polasky.
The trio consisted of clarinetist Lynda Dembowski, pianist Diane Kinsle,y and cellist Eric stolzfus.
They performed “Allegro”, “Adagio”, and “Andante Gracioso”, a composition in minor Op. 114 composed by Johannes Brahms for clarinet, cello, and piano.
The pianist, Diane Kinsley, has performed with Opera Vivente, Annapolis opera, Annapolis chorale, young Victorian theater, and has been a piano instructor at AACC since 2001.
Kinsley then performed accompanied by, soprano, Mary Anne Barcellona.
Barcellona, an adjunct voice faculty member at AACC, performed Richard Hundley’s “Waterbird” and Joseph Canteloube’s “Bailero” from Chant D’auvergne.
Barcellona Dedicate her last song, “Si mes vers avaient des ailes”, to a former AACC student who lost her battle to cancer.
The next performers of the night included percussionist Kevin Meyer and tubist Jarrod Williams.
The duo performed “Krump”, an upbeat musical piece composed by Anthony O’Toole.
Meyer is both an adjunct percussion professor at AACC and the principal percussionist in the United States Naval Academy band.
Williams is also a professional musician who earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts in tuba performance from the University of Maryland in 2012.
Anne Arundel Community College’s faculty jazz ensemble closed the recital with original songs including “Don’t You Know” by drummer, Frank Russo, and “Morning Silence” composed by guitarist, Ian Wardeski.
The jazz ensemble members include pianist Jerry Ascione, saxophonist Ray Ascione, double bassist Tome Pitta, percussionist Frank Russo, and guitarist Ian Wardesnki.
