Small student-owned promoted their businesses onto the Quad to give students an area to showcase their products on Wednesday.
The event was organized by the Entrepreneurs Club and the Entrepreneurial Studies Institute.
Cameron Millar, a third-year entrepreneurship student who helped with the event, said it was important for students to have a space to spread word about their businesses. Millar said they were inspired by the HawkTrade markets.
“What if we did this more often and in the Quad where it’s the busiest place on campus and there is the most foot traffic on campus,” Millar said.
The pop-up market gives students the opportunity of promoting their businesses directly on campus for free.
Students who participated in the business ownership said they were happy with the event.
“Most of my customers come from here,” Victorine Enyogai, a first-year computer science major who also ran a small cookies and cupcake business, said “So it’s good to get exposure instead of marketing myself.”
“Getting enough people here, organizing the vendors,” Millar said. “Setting up my stall while helping other businesses and just getting the word out there to small business owners who want to be apart of this.”
The next pop-up shop will be held on May 6 on the Quad.
