Students played basketball and cornwall during a Wellness Wednesday event that celebrated student veterans.
The Health and Wellness Center collaborated with the Student Veterans Association to promote fitness, show appreciation for veterans and give students an opportunity to take a break from their classes.
“It’s such an important thing for us to be doing … [to] advocate for healthy living,” James Mastrodomenico, the SVA secretary, said. “It’s a great way to … set an example for our students.”
According to Adriana Eastlee, the main event organizer, this is the third time the SVA collaborated with the Health and Wellness Center to promote fitness and healthy living on campus.
“They provided the food and the brochures,” Eastlee said. “We provided the fun.”
Dorothea Wilson, a first-year business administration student, agreed the event was fun.
“I think everyone likes to be a little bit active in the middle of the day,” Wilson said.
Alvin Aminu, a second-year nursing student, agreed.
“It was very engaging,” Aminu said.
Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11.
