AACC launches Riverhawks at Home campaign
April 30, 2020
AACC on Wednesday launched a social media campaign and website called Riverhawks at Home to connect students, faculty and staff while the college is closed because of the coronavirus.
According to Public Relations Coordinator Alicia Renehan, “Riverhawks at Home is a campaign designed to create a digital community.”
Renehan said students, faculty and staff can use the hashtag #Riverhawksathome to share stories and activities from their daily lives with others in the AACC community.
“This is something we thought was really important … because we can’t be connected the way we used to,” Renehan said. “This [site] is a place for everyone to feel connected with each other.”
The website RiverhawksatHome.com acts as a hub for these stories and activities, includes downloadable content—such as backgrounds for the video-conferencing program Zoom—and links students to the AACC podcast “Redefine U,” hosted by Dan Baum, executive director of strategic communications.
In March, AACC closed all campuses to students and nonessential workers in response to the coronavirus pandemic for the remainder of the spring semester and transitioned every class to an online environment.
