AACC donated 119 boxes of medical supplies to Maryland hospitals on Wednesday. 

 Among the supplies were face shields, hand sanitizer, gloves, chemical splash goggles, alcohol prep pads and wipes, disposable shoe covers, N95 masks, scrubs and ventilators. 

Anne Arundel Medical Center, University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center and the Anne Arundel County Emergency Operations Center accepted the donations. 

Kathy Burk, the medical center’s executive director, said the hospital is in critical need of supplies. 

“The supplies that [AACC is] giving us today are going to make an amazing difference in the morale of our workers, the health of our workers, the health of our patients and the health of our families,” Burk said. 

“I think we’re all learning that it takes a village,” Burk added. “It’s just so important that all of us are supporting each other in this critical time that really is about stabilizing systemic health and protecting lives.” 

Faculty and staff from AACC’s schools of health sciences, science and technology, and continuing education and workforce development gathered the supplies from labs and classrooms on the college’s three campuses.  

“We’re doing our part to support the community,” Larry Gregory, director of facilities, maintenance and operations said. 

Because students in those fields will take classes online for the rest of the semester, the college has less need for the supplies. 

Maryland had reported 423 cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 and four confirmed deaths as of Wednesday.
