Adventure club hikes Patapsco Valley trail

AACC Adventure Society Club members bonded while hiking six miles at Patapsco Valley State Park during their first outing of the semester in September.
The hike was the first of dozens of trips the group has planned for the fall.
“We usually have three or four events every month, so over four months, 10 to 12 events a semester,” faculty adviser Jessica Mattingly said. “I think [that] makes us unique. … We are constantly planning things and getting feedback from everyone in the group to decide what events we want to participate in.”
Club Secretary Joshua LaBille said the group will visit a Renaissance Festival and possibly take a camping trip.
During the club’s first meeting of the semester, members talked about partnering with other student groups and said they might host a Paint Night with the Art Association.
Club members said the club outings offer them positive social interactions and make them feel more involved with the school.
“I feel more included at the school,” Victory Ho, the club’s vice president, said. “Being a part of a club like the Adventure Society Club really gives you a sense that you’re not just in one big campus by yourself. And there are friends that you can meet and hang out with.”
