Business students who hope to compete in the Entrepreneurial Institute’s Big Idea competition viewed video pitches from former $1,000 winners on Tuesday.

Contestants, including faculty and staff will pitch their original ideas for new businesses via video by Oct. 24.

One of the videos showed the successful pitch of fourth-year entrepreneurial student Nicholas Kiraly, who has won $14,250 from a variety of pitch contests.

Five contenders can win the competition each year.

“Learning how to pitch your idea in a short amount of time is a key factor,” Willow Windrum, a fifth-year botany student and resource employee in the Hatchery, said,

The first-place winner will receive $1,000; second place, $500; and third, $250.

A “fan favorite” award of $250 will go to the maker of the video with the best feedback on social media.

An idea that focuses on AACC will win $250.

“[Its] a great way for students on campus to exercise their minds and winning real prizes for getting further in life,” Entrepreneurs Club President Dalton Leonard said.

ESI offers workshops for generating ideas, storytelling and video editing to any potential competitor.

Videos must be between 90 to 120 seconds. The due date is noon on Oct. 24.
