2014 Dance Company
September 12, 2014
AACC Dance Company’s 2014 fall auditions were held by Lynda Fitzgerald on Sept. 2 and Sept. 4 from 3 to 5 p.m.
“We had approximately 42 students audition which is actually lower for us in the fall than it has been in the past,” said Lynda Fitzgerald, Coordinator of the Performing Arts-Dance and Director of the AACC Dance Company.
Out of the 42 students that auditioned, 17 were chosen. For those that were unable to make the fall auditions, Fitzgerald said, “We audition again in January. So they have another opportunity if they want to.”
Sept. 9 was AACC’S Dance Company’s first rehearsal. “…I am really looking forward to meeting everybody. There is a core group of people that has been with me for a couple of years but there’s a big group of people that I am meeting and dancing with for the first time,” said Fitzgerald.
Of those who were apart of the dance company last year she said, “Nobody is assured a position. Everybody is tossed into the same boat every time auditions come around. So it is a level playing ground. Almost half the company is back from last year.”
AACC’s Dance Company will be rehearsing every Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. until their first performance.
From Dec. 4 to 6 at 8 p.m., AACC’s Dance Company will be performing a concert called, ‘Running Amuck’ which is a, “largely student choreographed project,” said Fitzgerald, in the Pascal Theatre. Fitzgerald herself will be bringing back a piece called ‘Perspective’ which is a, “piece that deals with the audiences’ perspective of dance on the stage because it focuses the audiences eyes on the dancer’s movements completely. I’m really excited about it.”
Be sure to support AACC’S Dance Company by heading to the Pascal Theatre from Dec. 4 to 6 at 8 p.m.
