The National Junior College Athletics Association named AACC Men’s Soccer midfielder Garrett McLendon the Division III Player of the Week this past September.

From Sept. 12 to Sept. 18 McLendon scored three goals and had four shots on goal. He ended his 2015 season with 27 total goals, showcasing his offensive skills.

As a player who has played a variety of positions within his last 15 years as a soccer player, McLendon has experience in and knowledge of both the offensive and defensive lines, and said the team will be cohesive.

“I think we’ll be pretty good this season, we have a pretty solid team.” McLendon said.

McLendon overcame a broken back in high school from playing soccer. The injury sidelined him for almost eight months and he was kept in a brace.

“I think playing these sports really helped my foot skills in soccer.” McLendon said about his time as a swimmer, lacrosse and tennis player in high school.

McLendon looks to attend the University of Maryland and study business management after his time is through at AACC, and also continue his involvement in sports.

“I hope to play intramural soccer or club beach volleyball.” McLendon said.
