Men’s lacrosse finished its regular season on April 12 with a win against Tompkins Cortland Community College, rounding out the season with four wins and 10 losses.
The Riverhawks are now heading to the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 20 Championship tournament.
Lacrosse head coach Jeremy Ross said the season, which the team started with 32 players, was “up and down.”
“We haven’t quite hit everything that we wanted,” Ross said, “you know, expectations that we set out for ourselves at the beginning of the year.”
Ross attributed the irregular season to “the balance of school and lacrosse.”
It’s “difficult,” Ross said. “We were trying to figure that out.”
Tyson Miller, a first-year transfer studies student, said the season went well despite some adversities.
“I think our season went pretty well,” Miller, an attacker, said. “We had some ups and downs to it, which we had to get through … a whole bunch of injuries. It sucked, but it’s a thing we had to work through.”
Miller added that one of the most upsetting parts of the season was a five-game losing streak from March 8 to 22.
Nathan Krueger, a first-year cybersecurity student, agreed the season went well.
“I worked hard, and I think I did pretty well to be a great teammate,” Krueger, a defender, said. “I think we definitely could have got some more wins under our belt.”
Ross said he feels the whole team can be improved upon next season.
“I’m super proud of my guys, you know, day in and day out,” Ross said. “The season didn’t go exactly the way that we planned, but my boys worked hard. Every single day they showed up to get an attitude, and every single game, they worked their butts off.”
