AACC’s women’s soccer team won the NJCAA Division II East District championship on Friday.
The Riverhawks won 4-3 against Mercer Community College on their competitor’s home field. This ended Mercer’s 16-game winning streak.
The ’Hawks were 2-0 down 15 minutes into the game. First-year athletes, defender McKenzie Gilbert, forward Emma Miga and midfielder Holly Wall, scored the goals in the span of 30 minutes.
The team advances to NJCAA Division II Women’s Soccer championship in Huntsville, Alabama.
The Riverhawks first game in the tournament is on Nov. 18.
