Rise Up Coffee Roasters did not open on the Arnold campus in November as scheduled because of a delay in obtaining approval from the Anne Arundel County Health Department.
Rise Up will repaint the spot that Chick-fil-A once occupied in the CALT atrium. The move will take place after the Health Department approves it, according to AACC Events and Food Services Manager Peter Kaiser.
Kaiser said he has no estimated time for the Rise Up opening.
“Once we get the final word from the Health Department that, ‘Yes, you’re all good to do that,’ then we’ll go in and finish the prep work,” Kaiser said. “That shouldn’t take very long to do.”
According to Kaiser, the Health Department has to approve every food service option on campus.
“I would like it to be done sooner than later,” Kaiser said. “Ideally, it would be done at least for the beginning of the [spring] semester. But I don’t know that that’s going to happen.”
The kiosk, which will join Chick-fil-A, Subway and the Hawk’s Nest as campus eateries, will sell coffee, smoothies, pastries and breakfast sandwiches.
